Chandelier Revamp

The girls over at Shanty2chic are hosting a link party and I thought I had the perfect project. If you haven't been there be sure to check it out! I love to check them out (ok I stalk them!!) I am working on my laundry/craft area since the oldest has decided he wanted his own room. I knew I wanted to makeover a chandelier for fun and I thought this would be a fun room to hang it. I know my idea of fun is strange but I can't help myself. Yes I know a chandelier is fancy in a laundry room but hey I spend hours of my life in there as a mother of 3, why not make it nice. So I set off in search of an ugly light, it was harder than I thought. I wanted ugly and cheap, because I am not paying big bucks for an ugly light. I found one over at my favorite Habitat store, it wasn't really all that ugly but lacked personality, and the price tag was perfect! I paid $5.00 for this light.
I taped the holes where the light bulbs go and busted out this fantastic spray paint! It goes on so smooth. I didn't sand anything I just started spraying. It only took one coat and about 10 minutes to change the lamp from drab to fab! I did go back and run my sand paper to scuff it up and give it a little more old world feel.
Awwww see much nicer! I found the little shades for .50 cents at habitat too. I just love it, it makes me smile while I am folding all that laundry. I see I have a shade that is crooked, don't worry I will fix it.
Here is a close up of the distressing.
Hope you like the project you too can create something like this with just a little spray paint and an ugly light!
Love your laundry room light! You've given me an idea... :)
