Cupcake War-Debriefing!

Well troops we did it, we won the war!  15 Hours of sweat and determination has led us to victory!

Remember my cupcake stand that I made?

Well here is the grand finale with it all dressed up!

I think it turned out amazing!!!  I made pumpkin, chocolate and carrot cupcakes, and a chocolate cake for them to cut.

I cut all of those cake wrappers out with my cricut, but my baby let me down!  I didn’t realize until it was too late that my cricut wasn’t cutting all the way through so Prince Charming and I spent 3 hours punching everything out.  My hands hurt!

Thankfully my sweet baby redeemed herself and cut my gum paste design for the cake!

Here is a keeping it real shot for you.  My kitchen looks like a powdered sugar covered war zone!

Do you want to know how to transport 150 cupcakes?  This was Prince Charming’s ingenious idea!  It was perfect we filled 5 drawers of these two plastic bins.  When we arrived we just opened a drawer and put them in place.  He even grouped them by flavor.  Man he is the best assistant EVER!

What did I learn from this mission?

I am never going to make it on Cupcake Wars!  How the heck do they make a thousand cupcakes in two hours???

Cake Stand-Check!

Hey everyone:

My to do list is  a mile long this week but I am checking things off!  Like this cake stand.  I am making a wedding cake/cupcake tower this weekend and needed a fun tower.  This is where being crafty and cake decorator come in handy.  I didn’t have to go out and buy a way over priced plastic piece, I made my own rockin one for way less and with way more personality.

I purchased 3 candle holders to serve as my base.  DSC03729 Yea I know they don’t match but their lines do and we can fix the non matching issue.

Enter Mr. Fix it.  I sanded each one down to give the paint something to stick to and applied 3 light coats.

Awwww see much better already, that gold flake was B-A-D!

Next step.  Super simple tops.  I needed something to hold 150 cupcakes so I needed something big.  Glass is crazy expensive but I had an idea!  Glass table toppers are perfect.  They are round, big and inexpensive.  Plus Prince Charming and I were at a garage sale and guess what they had one!  Score.  Then I picked one up at the store and the third smaller one is one that goes in my favorite Southern Living at  Home Tray so the tops were easy peazy!

DSC03740Now I could attach the glass tops with E6000 glue but I don’t want to ruin my tray so I am attaching them with this.  It will hold them down but will still come off.  DSC03739

I love the final project I hope the Bride and Groom do too!  I can’t wait to add the cupcakes and flowers.  Be sure to check back for the grand finale!

Now back to my list:

1. Cake Stand

2. Make a Movie

3. Meal Plan

4. Cupcake Wrappers

5. Birthday gifts

6. Bake cupcakes

7. Bake Cakes

8. Make Frosting

Uggg it goes on but it is making my stomach hurt just thinking  about it!

Crispy Peanut Butter Bites

I have to share this fantastic, incredible, outstanding, outrageous, delicious, awe inspiring,   phenomenal, yea phenomenal that is the word that describes this crispy peanutty goodness bites.

It was hot, hot , hot this weekend.  I am so over it, bring on the chili, soup, and stew I am ready for fall.  I am sick of roasting my tail off whenever we go outside.  Anyway Prince Charming wanted something sweet this is how the conversation went:

Prince Charming, “I need chocolate”

Me, “Ok”

Prince Charming,  “We should bake cookies or brownies”

Me with the look of you have got to be kidding “It is too hot to make cookies”

Prince Charming, “But I want chocolate

Me “But it is too hot”

Prince Charming, “But I want cookies”

Here comes Crispy Peanut butter Chocolate cookie bites.  You might say Prince Charming won the debate but alas these peanutty treats are no bake baby!  Score one for the Princess!

These are super simple but oh so good.  Everyone says they like the ones I completely covered in chocolate best but they are great either way and I was running low on chocolate so that is what you get!

1 (18 ounce size) jar of peanut butter
2 cups Rice Krispies cereal
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup chocolate chips

In a double boiler over low heat, melt chocolate and set aside You can also use the microwave if you don’t want to heat up the house. In a medium sized bowl, combine all other ingredients. Blend well until mixture forms a dough. It is really sticky but just keep working it until it becomes a nice dough. Roll into 1-inch balls. Here is a little tip if you keep your hands a little damp and wash them often rolling these will be a lot easier! Using a toothpick or fork, dip the balls into the chocolate until well coated. Place onto a cookie sheet lined with wax paper. Refrigerate for 30 minutes.

If I don’t get to craft someone is going to get hurt!

I couldn’t take it anymore I had to do some crafting before I went  crazy!  I have been doing projects but nothing fun enough to blog about, so this weekend I took a few minutes and got some stuff done.  I need this for a present so it served a couple purposes.  I get my craft on, you get more fun ideas, and I get a present done early!  It is a win-win all around.

I made a cute monogram for my niece’s birthday that is coming up.   She is redoing her room in black, silver and hot pink, and made a special request for monogram for her room.  These are such fun colors and oh so popular right now.  I wish I had hot pink vinyl but regular pink will have to do.

I L-O-V-E it!    That swirl is begging to be put on sign don’t ya think?  It is bigger than it looks in the picture, it really is 12 X 24 inches but it looks kinda small in the picture.

Hope she likes it, I think it is sophisticated but fun!

A Rin Tin Tin ceiling tile art

I was going to wait to post this tomorrow, but it is so ca-Ute I have to share right now!  Prince Charming called on his way home Friday and said there is a garage sale you have to see so get dressed!  Boy was he right, I knew I loved him! If I had my camera I would have taken a picture.  It was my dream garage sale, an entire driveway full of the most adorable shabby chic pieces I have ever seen.  I told her to load everything in my truck I wanted it all.  Just kidding, but no really I could have taken it all if I had an endless budget.  She wouldn’t let me have her crazy cute chalkboard garage sale sign which is such a cute idea by the way!

I did walk away with a really cute giant whisk, and a bed skirt for the Princess and a big ceiling tile.

Look what I did with ceiling tile!!! DSC03727

See CA-UTE!  It was already cream and all chippy and distressed. How could I not leave with it?  I paid $3.00 dollars for it!

Here is a close up of the monogram.  I used my cricut to cut the monogram in vinyl and used the negative space like a stencil.  I went over it with a little sand paper so it looked like it had always been like this.   Ok well besides the fact it was established in the year 2000 but hey it still looks old.

The hardest part of this  project is deciding where I will put it.   Maybe I will put it above my bed because it makes me smile!  It will look great next to the mirror. “wink”

I am linking up to this fun little party!

Missed you just an Itty bit-Back to school treat

Well this it, it is over.  Summer is over. Today is the first day back at school. I am a little sad my oldest is in third grade.  Really?  Half way through elementary school whoa is me.

I always like to give a special treat for surviving your first day back at school.   Here is a simple treat that I thought you might like too!

I picked up the little Dotz Ice cream knockoff for $1.00.

Then I used Microsoft word to create my little label for the top.  I added Happy 1st day in the center but it isn’t coming through.

Then I simply layered up scrapbooking paper which I cut with my cricut, and glued it to the top.  The Prince loved it!

Sorry for the blurry pictures I think my camera might be dying.  Oh no!!!

Helloooooo Anyone still out there?

Sheesh I am sorry I have been a slogger! (slacking blogger)  The kids have had swim lessons everyday for the last two weeks and I think that is all I have done.  School is almost in session and that means meetings galore for me.  This week I had a cub scout meeting and a PTA meeting eeee gad!  Why do I think I have time to volunteer for all of this????

I haven’t been able to do too many crafts lately but I am ramping up for 3 dresses and wedding cupcake tree, and curtains which are sitting on my sewing table driving me crazy!

I squeaked out this tile for the wedding that I am making the cake for. Hope they are not looking at my blog.  Look away if you are!

Super simple but really cute. I should whip one up for me while I am at!  I picked up the  11 X 11 tile at Habitat for Humanity .50 cents.  I love the curved lines on the tile it makes it really unique. I picked up the stand at Hobby Lobby I love the rustic feel, and I love that is was 50% off!

I can’t stay long my to do list is 15 things deep, I will pop in as soon as I can.

Camera Strap Envy

I have seen all kinds of adorable camera straps out in blog world, but they are all for the big fancy cameras. My poor little camera wants to look pretty too! So I thought I would give it a whirl and see what I could come up with. It was a super easy project that only took me about 20 minutes max and I didn’t have a neat little tutorial to follow!

DSC03592 1. Cut two strips of fabric mine are 1 inch by 12 inches. (Excuse the well loved self-healing mat!)DSC03594

2. With right sides together stitch along both long sides. You can do the short sides too but I didn’t because I wasn’t sure how I was going to finish it off.

DSC03595 3. Turn your tube right side out and press with and iron.DSC03597 4. I stitched three rows of top stitching for cuteness and a little strength.DSC03600 5 I used the cord off my other camera strap and sandwiched it like so and stitched 4 rows across to make sure it held tight.DSC03603

6. Now I have a pretty camera strap like all the fancy ones for my little point and shoot.

Let’s Par-Teeeeee

Dear Whimsical Princess readers:

My mommy is still recovering from my big birthday bash so I thought I would stop in and share all the fun with you.  We wish we could invite everyone but we can’t fit 20,000 readers in the castle.

DSC03576  Here is the super cute bunting  and tissue paper pom-pom’s that I love!

My mommy used her cricut to cut and create these personalized cupcake wrappers just for me.

DSC03578 DSC03580

We dined on ham and cheese pockets, pizza pockets and pigs in a blanket.  We served the dipping sauce in sweet little mason jars.

DSC03579 DSC03581

Cute little bins from the dollar store were perfect for holding all of our plates and such.

My  mommy is so sad she forgot to take a picture of the most adorable part!  She made mini cake truffles in the shape of cupcakes as a parting gift for everyone and we ate the leftovers so fast she didn’t have a chance .  Guess we will have to make more!

369 edit take 3

My mommy thinks I am the best gift ever. Thanks Chantielle for taking my cute pictures!

My mommy swears this is why God made little girls.  She says she could eat me up in this little tutu with a little bit of ranch.  You don’t think she is serious do you?  This is one of my favorite dresses I think it is so cute and apparently so does everyone else because I got two.

Do you think it makes my tush look big?

Anyway thanks for coming to my party hope you enjoyed the highlights.  My mommy will be back with more fun projects soon.
