The Witch’s Inn

Hey Everyone:

No I am not just crabby.  Ha get it the, “Witch is In.”

I am home with a barfy kid.  Well he barfed once and now he is perfectly fine and running around the house.  Nice! I could have sent him to school but then I would be the mom who sent a barfy kid to school.

This is the cute sign I made in the mega crafting session this weekend.  Well I painted it at least, I finished the details today.  Then I took 110 pictures trying to get a good one.  It is going to go on my mantle, but for the love of Pete I can not get a good picture up there.  I swear I am taking those windows out.  Do you think Prince Charming would mind doing a major renovation in the name of my blog?

Yea your right probably not, but I could try!

This is super simple to put together.

1. Paint your board in my case it was part of the free cabinets I got.

DSC040152. Slap on a little crackle medium where the witch was going.  You gotta slap it on there or it doesn’t look right.

DSC040163. Cut my stencil out of contact paper with my Cricut.

4. Paint the witch and let her dry.

5. Stencil the lettering, witch(ha) I didn’t take a picture of but you are smart I know you can do it.

6.  Sand the heck out of it, to make it look all beat up.

7.  Finish up with just a few touches of antiquing medium to age it, Witch(Ha again) you totally can’t see but I am NOT taking any more pictures of it.  You will just have to trust me.

Enjoy!

Making a to do list cute

So where do you keep your to do list?

What do you mean, what to do list?  You know that list that you hate looking at let alone thinking about it.

Oh you say you keep it scrawled on some piece of junk mail that you had lying around, and quite possibly run      the risk of throwing it away!

GASP!

Tah Dah!  This is what you need, you could look at these cuties and maybe it will make your to do list a little more bearable.

Here are the next installment from my weekend of crafting.  I think they are CA-UTE!  I might put them in my shop not sure if I want to part with them though.

Who says a cute little spider can’t offer you words of encouragement.

Sometimes your to do list is scary!

I think this is my fav!

But then again I love this one too.

Gotta run I have eye of newt and hobgoblin brain to pickup.

Enjoy!

What is on my plate?

This weekend the boys went hunting, they didn’t get anything but had a great time.

That meant CRAFTY TIME for me. It was awesome, no soccer, no nothin, just pure joy!

I think I gained 10 pounds because apparently Prince Charming keeps me from eating every thing in sight, but I made some fun treats to share later this week. It was worth the sacrifice.

I have so many projects that I want share from the weekend but I will start with these. I made these adorable plates using vinyl and inexpensive plates from the thrift store.

And just so you know you really are not losing your eye sight. There is a scratch on my lens so squint your eyes just right so you don’t see it. O.K.

DSC04008

Bone chilling cute don’t ya think?

DSC04007

Who wouldn’t love this?

I haven’t put up my Halloween decor yet so you don’t get to see them in their actual home but for now this will work. I don’t like to put up the Halloween stuff until October 1st.

Enjoy!

The scene of the Crime and the Investigation

It was Mr. Brown in the school with a marshmallow shooter.   DSC03981

There has been a serious crime in the castle, but no worries I have 45 of the cities top investigators on it!  Tonight my cub scouts will be investigating this very serious crime.  I think this would be a crazy fun party idea!  It was pretty simple to put together with a little imagination.  DSC03983

Case Files with instructions from the captain:

Tigers:

Your captain just called and there has been a very serious crime and you need to investigate! You need to start by interviewing all of the witnesses. You better make it snappy, the chief is breathing down his neck! You better be very complete we don’t want this case thrown out over a mistake!

Wolves:

Your captain just called and there has been a very serious crime and you need to investigate! You need to start by reviewing the crime scene photos. You better make it snappy, the chief is breathing down his neck! You better be very complete we don’t want this case thrown out over a mistake!

Bears:

Your captain just called and there has been a very serious crime and you need to investigate! You need to start by gathering all of the trace evidence you find. You better make it snappy, the chief is breathing down his neck! You better be very complete we don’t want this case thrown out over a mistake!

Webelos:

Your captain just called and there has been a very serious crime and you need to investigate! You need to start by collecting fingerprints. You better make it snappy the chief is breathing down his neck! You better be very complete we don’t want this case thrown out over a mistake!

Pirates:

Your captain just called and there has been a very serious crime and you need to investigate! You need to start by reviewing the surveillance video. You better make it snappy the chief is breathing down his neck! You better be very complete we don’t want this case thrown out over a mistake!

DSC03985

Evidence collection kit includes: evidence tags, and labels, gloves, paintbrush, tape, fingerprint dusting powder(AKA face powder)wipes, luminal (colored water) for blood testing, tweezers , tiny scissors and evidence collection bags.  I will be having them collect all the trace evidence which I am so totally planting!

I gathered a few witnesses:

You are a witness here is what you saw Be creative, Ham it up!

You didn’t see anything

But you heard a muffle whomp sound followed by a scream. It was around 7:18pm. You know it was 7:18pm because you were watching your favorite show I-Carly and it had just gone to commercial so you went to the pantry to get some popcorn for a snack and you looked at the clock on the microwave.

You saw a suspicious person around 6:45pm. They were peeking in windows and were carrying a big black duffle bag. You didn’t call the police because you were on your way to the grocery store and you were late to pick up your son from soccer practice.

You only heard a creek and heard footsteps in the hall. When you looked out you might have seen someone go by wearing a blue no wait a black sweat shirt or coat.

You only saw a strange glowing light. You are pretty sure it might have been an alien.

Crime Scene Photos:

Now if I was throwing a party I would give the kids a camera to take the crime scene photos but since I have 45 kids I couldn’t do that so I just printed some off:

DSC03976 DSC03973 DSC03974 DSC03975

Surveillance Video

I made a video with my camera.  I made it super dark so they have to really listen and watch. I stuffed extra clothes under my shirt and wore Prince Charming’s pants and gloves so they won’t be able to see it is me.  I am not the killer but I was the one making the video.  I will be playing this on the laptop projector.

The final phase will be the completion of the arrest warrant for whomever they think did the crime.   I asked some of the parents to wear the same type of clothing to throw the boys off.

Don’t you think this will be a hoot?  How fun would this be with a smaller group of boys for a party? You could really get those details going  They would talk about that one all year!

I know this was a crazy long post but I had to give you all the details of the crime!

Enjoy!

Peach Honey

DSC03960

Remember all those peaches I had?

Well those babies were expensive and I didn’t want to waste any of them so I made Peach Honey with all the skins that I peeled off the peaches while canning them.  This was my brothers response,

“Dude they are just skins it is ok to throw them away!”

Yes he used the word “dude.”  Dude we like grew up in the 80’s cut us some slack!

Tppppth what does he know?  Cause it was delicious!!!!  Fantastic in a nice cup of tea or on a homemade biscuit.

I tell you it is exactly like regular honey only with a sweet yummy peach flavor!

Here are the directions: Peach Honey

How about a little peach honey making mood music.  Tell me that doesn’t make you want to run right out and make honey!

Enjoy!

Trick or Treat Smell My Feet Here is a Sweet Treat to Eat

DSC03876

Last weekend we took our family photos at this super cute barn. Nothing like asking a complete stranger if you can take pictures with 10 other families, oh and have a picnic, oh and do it two weekends in a row on your property.

Ok I didn’t exactly ask. My friend did because, well I was being a big baby! But now Fran and I are BFF’s and I get to come on her property any time I want.

Needless to say that she deserves a thank you! So this weekend I popped by with the cutest darn thank you ever.

DSC03940

Halloween Smore’s in a Jar:

Ingredients and directions:
1 quart mason jar

1 sleeve graham crackers

1 package holiday marshmallow peeps

1 bag of holiday M&Ms candies (regular ones, not the peanut kind)

1/3 cup of brown sugar

Card stock, fabric and what ever other embellishments you would like for the jar

DSC03916
1. Roll the graham crackers with a rolling pin to make crumbs

2. Layer crumbs in a 1 qt jar. Pack down the crumbs a bit.
3. Place about 1/4 cup of M&Ms candies on top of the graham crackers.
DSC039174. Arrange 8 to 12 marshmallow holiday peeps standing up, facing out around the inside of the jar. Press them up against the glass, but don't squash them. Depending on your size of peeps you may have one row or two if you use the pumpkins.DSC03918

7. Spoon 1/3 cup brown sugar into center of the peeps pack it down and around to make room for the M&M's.

8. Pour in remaining M&M’s and pack down being careful you don’t mash your peeps. DSC03919

Next I embellished the jar with a scrap of fabric and my super scientific method of circle cutting. I also cut a circle of tulle a little wider than the fabric to go under the skirt.

DSC03943

I cut the feet using the paper dolls dress up cartridge on my cricut. The legs I just freehanded they are just rectangles I don’t think I need my cricut for that. I hot glued all of the paper pieces on the jar.

DSC03944

A little peek under the skirt

DSC03942

Printed the label and stamped the witch’s brew. The following instructions are on the back:

1. Empty the jar contents into a bowl. Snip the peeps into bits with kitchen shears or
cut up with a knife. Return the bits to the mixture. Mix well.
2. Melt 1/2 cup butter; add 1 teaspoon vanilla. Pour this over the dry ingredients,
mixing well. Pat into a greased 8" or 9" square pan. Bake at 350 degrees F for 15
minutes. Cool and cut into bars.

You can make these for pretty much every holiday you can imagine cause I think they make peeps year round now. Yummers! I love peeps just a little chewy!

Click the peep and you can be a peep fan too!

Everyone please take out a number two pencil

Oh no don’t worry it isn’t a pop quiz just a cute cake!

Tee hee this was a simple little cake I made for the oldest prince to take to school, for “Mystery Cake day”

What is that?

Well apparently the oldest prince has been around cake waaaay too much and came up with this idea as a class reward system.  They use their class bucks to buy the right to bring in a cake and then the students have to guess the flavor.

Gotta love when they volunteer you.  It’s ok I like doing fun ones like this. The kids are so sweet they always give me the best oooo’s and aaaaa’s!

I love you so much it is scary-Candy Bouquet

Oh hey you thought I meant you?

I do love you, but this bouquet was for Prince Charming.  He was feeling a little blue this week so I thought I would get him some flowers that a man would love.

These are really fun to make and right now there is a mountain of candy choices at any store you go to so the time is perfect!

DSC03908

DSC03903

These are super simple to make.  Hot glue skewers to the back of the candy.  You might want to apply the glue to the skewer first, let it cool for a couple seconds then apply it to the back of the candy.  Otherwise it melts through the plastic and the candy bar.

Trust me I know!

DSC03904

I wrapped a couple in tissue paper in the shape of flowers.  Don’t worry it doesn’t need to be perfect.  The rest I simply tied curling ribbon around each skewer.

Wanna know something shmoopy?  That is a word right?

The ribbon is from our wedding 10 years ago. Awhhhhh I know isn’t sweet? But, uhhhh can you say over bought!

DSC03905

Ok back to task.  Place a small piece of floral foam in your container of choice.  You will want  a heavy container or at least weigh it down because the candy is heavy.  Next just go to town put the skewers with candy on them in the foam.

DSC03907

I made  the sweet little sign glued it to another skewer and there you go!

Prince Charming loved it and I didn’t even get the, “yea thanks for the totally girlie present that you gave me and I am only smiling cause I don’t want to hurt your feelings look!”

Enjoy!

Fall Mantle Makeover

makeover copy

I love fall!

The air is so crisp and clean, and the colors are outstanding.

Comfort food need I say more?

I took a little time yesterday and updated my mantle.

My mantle is a total pain in the rear  blank canvas waiting to be stylized.  You see my mantle is huge, I mean huge like 8 feet wide which in itself would be nice.  However it also is surrounded by windows which makes it really hard to get height from anything which I need because I have 300 30 foot ceilings. I always struggle with it!  It also makes taking photos really hard too!

DSC03891

This is my favorite side.  See the cute little cloche?  Remember my cupcake stand? I used one of the bases to make it.  Why is it when you put something under glass it becomes instantly cute?

DSC03892

Some cute old books in fall colors.

Happy fall Y’all!

I am just Peachy

peachy Hey everyone!

Yea I am still alive it had been a mad house at the castle!

I think it might be a bad winter, because I am starting to hibernate.  No I am not packing on fat and sleeping a lot.  (Ok maybe a litte)

Yesterday I made

 DSC03881

Peach Cobbler which just might be a contributing factor on the whole packing on fat thing!

 DSC03883

Peach Butter

DSC03882

5 quarts of peaches!!!

And I have peach honey in the Crockpot as I type. Which sounds so yummy!  Wouldn’t that be great in some nice hot tea?

I also put away six batches of spaghetti sauce.  Today I also want to freeze some rhubarb so I can stretch that into the long dreary winter.

Can you can?  Ha I just wanted to say can-can.

Enjoy!
